As I mentioned in an earlier post about our chosen pine finish, we ordered Eastern white pine from a local source: The Pine Outlet, in Andover, NH. Mary and Mike were awesome to work with, delivered the pine to my tiny house job site and unloaded it for us. I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone looking for quality, local pine in multiple board styles!
We chose an 8” - wide, V-groove, tongue-and-groove style board.
My intent was to have a minimal amount of lines in the finished walls, so that our little space didn’t become too busy, visually.
You can see here, the beginnings of our built-in bathroom shelving storage.
Built-in shower shelves, in the making.
Built-in spice rack, for our future kitchen!
Once we finished gluing and pinning the pine to the studs, we sanded all of the pine in the whole house down with orbital sanders and mouse sanders (for the tight triangles near the braces). This is what it sounds like with Brian and Tim in there:
I just love that contrast between the pumpkin doug fir and the white pine!
(Drying some wood by the fire.)
After sanding the whole house down with a fine, 220 grit sand paper, we sealed the wood with a clear, non-yellowing finish. Tim did a HUGE amount of this work with us that weekend. What a guy!
